Privacy Policy
Last Updated: May 23, 2026
1. Introduction
ObjectLens (hereinafter "the App") is an iOS app provided by RuLa Gems ("the Developer"). The Developer respects and is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what information the App collects and how it is used.
2. Information We Collect
The App stores the following information only on your device:
- Photos captured by the camera or selected from your photo library
- Vocabulary records derived from image recognition (word labels, translations, capture dates, etc.)
- Background-removed cutout images
- App settings (capture options, haptic feedback, locale, etc.)
Important: All of this information is stored locally on your device and is never transmitted to external servers.
3. Device Access Permissions
The App may request the following permissions. They are used solely to provide app functionality:
- Camera: Used to take photos of objects for vocabulary learning.
- Photo Library: Used to select existing photos for vocabulary learning. The App accesses only the photos you select; it does not read your entire library.
4. How We Use Information
The collected information is used solely for the following purposes:
- Identifying objects from photos and recording them as English vocabulary
- Displaying your learning history (album)
- Providing app features such as background removal, translation, and pronunciation
5. On-Device Processing (Apple Frameworks)
The App performs image recognition, background removal, translation, and speech synthesis entirely on your device:
- Vision framework (Apple): Performs image classification and background removal locally. Images are not sent to our servers or Apple's servers.
- Translation framework (Apple): Performs word translation locally. On first use, language packs may be downloaded from Apple's servers, which Apple handles in accordance with its own privacy policy.
- AVSpeechSynthesizer (Apple): Performs pronunciation playback locally.
6. Information Sharing
The App does not share any captured photos or learning data with third parties. All data is stored exclusively on your device.
7. Data Retention
All data is stored on your device until you uninstall the App or manually delete it. Deleted items are retained in the in-app trash for a limited period before being permanently removed.
8. Security
The App utilizes iOS security features to protect your data. Data is stored within the iOS sandbox so that it is inaccessible to other apps.
9. Third-Party Services
The App uses the following third-party services:
Google AdMob (Advertising Service)
The App displays ads to free-tier users via Google AdMob. AdMob may collect the following information:
- Device identifiers (Advertising ID / IDFA)
- Data related to ad impressions and clicks
- Approximate location (inferred from IP address)
This information is used to display personalized ads and measure advertising effectiveness. For more details, please refer to Google's Privacy Policy.
On devices running iOS 14.5 or later, App Tracking Transparency (ATT) will prompt you to allow tracking. Even if you do not allow tracking, you can still use the App normally, but the ads displayed may not be personalized. Premium subscribers do not see ads.
Apple StoreKit (In-App Purchase)
The App uses Apple's StoreKit to offer Premium subscriptions (unlimited history, no ads). All payment processing is handled by Apple; the App does not access payment information such as credit card numbers. Only your subscription state (active status, expiration date, auto-renew status, etc.) is read locally on your device. For more details, see the Apple Media Services Terms and Conditions.
10. Children's Privacy
The App is not directed to children under 13 years of age and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us with information, please contact us using the form below and we will take steps to delete it.
11. Your Rights (California / CCPA)
If you are a California resident, you have the right to know what personal information we collect, to request deletion of that information, and to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information. Because the App stores photos and learning data only on your device and does not transmit them to the Developer's servers, we have no personal information to disclose, delete, or sell on your behalf — except for the limited advertising identifiers handled by Google AdMob as described in Section 9. To exercise any rights under the CCPA, please contact us via the form below.
12. Disclaimer (Captured Content & Use of Images)
What you choose to photograph or select using the App's camera and photo library features, and how you subsequently use, store, or share those images, is entirely at your own discretion and responsibility.
You agree not to capture or use, without the necessary rights or permissions, any subject whose photography or use would infringe applicable laws or the rights of third parties (such as other people's likeness, copyrighted works, or confidential information).
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, the Developer shall not be liable for any damages incurred by you or any third party in connection with your use of the App (including capturing, processing, or using the results). All captured images are processed and stored solely on your device, and the Developer cannot access them.
13. Changes to This Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy may be updated as necessary. Any changes will be reflected on this page along with the "Last Updated" date above.
